Japanese Vocabulary Practice Sheets: Free Printable PDF
Kanji stick best inside the words you actually use: you read and write 学校 and 食べ物, not isolated characters. These word practice sheets put whole words on the page: a stroke-order strip for every character, then rows of genkōyōshi squares to copy the full word, with its reading printed as furigana. Start with the 40 common beginner words below, around JLPT N5 level, or add any word you are learning in the generator.
What's in every word practice sheet
- A stroke-order strip for every character: kanji and kana alike are built up stroke by stroke from KanjiVG data (or only the kanji, if you prefer).
- Rows to copy the whole word: genkōyōshi squares where you write the full word again and again, each row starting with a faint copy to trace.
- Automatic furigana: the reading comes from the JMdict dictionary and prints on the first practice row, or on every row. Type your own reading to change it.
- Your own meaning, in any language: tap the pencil next to a word to add one, or switch on the English meaning from the dictionary.
- Vertical writing: one switch turns the sheet into vertical genkōyōshi, columns read from right to left like a Japanese notebook.
- One word per page, free and private: A4, A3, Letter or Legal; the PDF is made in your browser, with no account, no watermark and no upload.
