Frequently asked questions

Is this kanji sheet generator really free?
Yes — completely free, no signup, no ads. The PDF is generated inside your browser; nothing is uploaded to a server.
How do the practice sheets work?
Each kanji gets its own page: a stroke-order row that builds the character stroke by stroke, faint tracing outlines, and empty practice squares with guide crosses — the classic Japanese drill-book (漢字ドリル) layout with proper margins for name and date.
Can I print blank genkōyōshi grid paper?
Yes. Clear your selection (or open the blank genkōyōshi page) and download a blank practice grid in any paper size and cell density.
Which kanji are available?
Over 6,500 characters, including the complete hiragana and katakana syllabaries and all jōyō kanji, with stroke-order data from the KanjiVG project. Ready-made JLPT and school-grade sets are linked below.
Can I share a sheet with my students?
Yes — the address bar always reflects your current selection and settings. Copy the link and anyone who opens it sees the same sheet, ready to download.
Which paper sizes are supported?
A4, A3, Letter and Legal, portrait or landscape, with 6 to 28 practice cells per row.
